The Northern economic region includes 7 major provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong and Hung Yen. This area contributes 32% to the national GDP, shares its border with China. The Northern provinces and cities are currently focusing on and encouraging industries such as electronics manufacturing, automobiles, shipbuilding, textiles and supporting industries according to investment incentives policies in Decree No 31/2021/ND-CP of the Government, creating an optimal industrial zone investment environment for foreign businesses, enhancing the production of goods.
Central Industrial Hubs
The key economic region includes 5 major provinces and cities including Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh, accounting for 7% of the country's population.
This area has transportation axes such as National Highway 1A (Thua Thien Hue - Da Nang - Quang Nam - Quang Ngai – Binh Dinh), National Highway 14B (Da Nang - Quang Nam), National Highway 24C (Quang Ngai – Quang Nam), National Highway 19B (Binh Dinh - Quang Ngai)...
This region also has many important seaports such as Chan May (Thua Thien Hue), Da Nang, Tien Sa, Lien Chieu (Da Nang), Ky Ha (Quang Nam), Quy Nhon (Binh Dinh)... creating vital maritime routes facilitating smoother transportation of manufacturing goods.
The industrial zones in this area are operating and producing important sectors such as information technology, electronics, mechanics, machinery manufacturing, food processing and many other industries. These sectors benefit from investment incentives policies provided by
the Government.
Southern Industrial Hubs
The Southern Economic Zone includes 8 major provinces and cities including Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Tien Giang, Tay Ninh, contributing to 40% of the GDP and accounting for 42% of Vietnam's total FDI capital. This area is considered the country's largest economic center, with National Highways 51, 1K (Dong Nai - Ba Ria-Vung Tau), National Highway 13 (Ho Chi Minh City - Binh Phuoc), National Highway 56 (Dong Nai - Ba Ria-Vung Tau), National Highway 20 (Dong Nai - Lam Dong),... facilitating easier transportation connectivity among provinces or cities.
In addition, Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province also hold the largest seaports in the South, which are Cat Lai port and Cai Mep-Thi Vai port, helping to improve international goods traffic.
Binh Duong is the province having the largest industrial zone area in Vietnam, covering an area of 12,721 hectares and comprising 31 industrial zones. Dong Nai has the highest number of operational industrial zones in the country, accounting for an occupancy rate of about 84%.
This area has the highest quality and richest human resources in the country. Key sectors such as electronics, software, information technology, telecommunications, high-tech agricultural production and processing are being strongly encouraged to invest in industrial zones here, according to the provisions of Decree No 31/2021/ND-CP,
